Persons wishing to address the Commission on Teacher Credentialing on a subject to be considered at this meeting are asked to complete a Request Card and give it to the Recording Secretary prior to the discussion of the item.

Information 3A: Annual Report of the Committee on Accreditation

This agenda item presents the Annual Report of the Committee on Accreditation for the year 2008-09. This report reflects the COA decisions made using the revised accreditation system and provides an update on progress made on various accreditation activities for 2008-09.

Action 3B: Request for Approval to Release a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Administration and Further Development of the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST), the California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET), the California Teacher of English Learners(CTEL)Examination and the Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA)

This agenda item presents the request to approve the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the development and administration of the Commission's CBEST, CSET, CTEL, and RICA examinations for 2010-2016. 

Action 3C: Recommendations from the Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) Users Advisory Committee

This agenda item presents for Commission review and approval recommendations from the TPA Users Advisory Committee, and also provides data from a survey of TPA users regarding implementation costs and related issues. 

Action 3D: Update on Funded Teacher Development Programs

This agenda item includes the 2008-09 report on the Paraprofessional Teacher Training Program and the Alternative Certification (Intern) Program. 

Information 3E: Update on Discussions Related to Teacher Leadership

This agenda item provides an update on activities taking place at both the national level and in other states on the topic of teacher leadership. 

Information 3F: Update on the Work of the Teaching Mathematics Advisory Panel

This agenda item provides an update on the work to date of the Teaching Mathematics Advisory Panel. 

Information 3G: Report of Services Credentials Issued in California, 2003-04 to 2007-08

This agenda item presents data, trends and patterns in the numbers of services credentials issued in the past five years. 

 


Information 3H: Proposed Preconditions for Selected Special Education Credential Programs and a Proposed Standard for Added Authorizations

This agenda item presents proposed Preconditions for selected Education Specialist Credential Programs for Commission consideration and a proposed new standard for the added authorization programs.

Information 2H: An Evaluation of Teachers Trained Through Different Routes to Certification

Dr. Jill Constantine will present findings from an evaluation of teacher preparation models and the efficacy of different teacher preparation methods in contributing to students' academic achievement. The study focused on the performance of teachers from two alternative models of teacher preparation compared with traditionally prepared teachers teaching in the same schools and grades. 


Credentialing and Certificated Assignments Committee - December 10, 2009

This agenda item proposes amendments to 5 California Code of Regulations pertaining to English Learner and Bilingual Authorizations due to the passage of recent legislation.
