The order of business within each day may be changed without notice. All items may be re-ordered to be heard on any day of the noticed meeting. Persons wishing to address the Commission on Teacher Credentialing on a subject to be considered at this meeting are asked to complete a Request Card and give it to the Recording Secretary prior to the discussion of the item.

Action 1A: Interviews for Appointment to the Committee of Credentials

This agenda item provides information about the interview and selection process for the appointment of one secondary teacher and one school administrator member to serve on the Committee of Credentials (COC). As of the agenda deadline, the Commission has not received any applications for the secondary teacher position. The Ad Hoc Committee will also consider the reappointment of Albert Dolata as a public representative.

Action 3B: Analysis of Bills

This agenda item presents analyses of educator preparation or licensing bills introduced by Legislators.  The analyses will summarize current law, describe the bill’s provisions, estimate its costs and recommend amendments, if applicable.

Professional Services Committee - June 2, 2011

This agenda item presents Preconditions and Program Standards for the Teacher Librarian Services Credential for adoption by the Commission. Additional standards for a Special Class Authorization are also included for information.

Information 5B: Plan for the Study of Teacher Preparation

This agenda item presents a proposed plan for the study of teacher preparation beginning in Fall 2011 for the Commission's consideration. 

 

Information 5C: Report on Passing Rates of Commission-Approved Examinations from 2005-06 to 2009-10

This agenda item reports the passing rates of Commission-approved examinations.  For each examination, the purpose of the examination, its structure, the scoring process, the examination volume, the first-time passing rate, and the cumulative passing rate are discussed.  When available, the passing rate by demographic data is also discussed. 

Information 5D: Discussion of Precondition 1 Related to Non-Regionally Accredited Institutions and Other Program Sponsors

This agenda item presents a rationale for the possible revision of Precondition 1 for the Commission's discussion and consideration.

Closed Session - June 2, 2011

The Commission will go into Closed Session pursuant to California Government Code sections 11126(e) and 11126(g)(2), as well as California Education Code Sections 44245 and 44248, to consider petitions for reinstatement: pending litigation Carroll v Commission on Teacher Credentialing (SPB 11-0739) and matters relating to the recruitment, appointment or removal of its executive director. The Commission will report out of Closed Session appropriately concerning any and all actions taken or determinations made therein.
