Hello, I want to share a story about a teacher, I supported in my district and her experience with the calTPA, This teacher was working with a private university to get her credential through an internship program, she was placed in a TK program and this was initially approved by her college. Once the school year started, and she had bonded with her students and was doing her job she was informed by her university that her work in transitional kindergarten would not apply to her calTPA, but she would have to continue to pay for her enrollment or lose everything she has worked for. So, while NUSD HR worked to find her a new placement that would apply she had to continue to pay her university to extend her time to complete her TPA. I just want pass this on and share that the TPA produces undue financial hardship on teachers who are making very little money already. her university seemed to use it to make more money off her. It is so difficult already to get teachers into schools and this makes it much harder.
