As the coordinator for the dual credential program at CSU Long Beach, I want to add my support to the proposals for dual credential candidates outlined in 4B. I support the proposal to make cycle 1 the foundational cycle for all credential candidates and make cycle 2 of the Education Specialist CalTPA the measure for candidates within their credential area of specialization.
This proposal would allow dual credential candidates to complete only 2 cycles of the CalTPA. This is beneficial to candidates for several reasons. First, each cycle of the TPA is expensive and adding more cycles would be cost prohibitive for many candidates. Second, completing more than 2 cycles in the credential program time frame would be challenging for most candidates given the time-intensive nature of the CalTPA.
