I realize that my comment doesn't apply to 4E specifically as this situation was not a previous flexibility due to COVID-19, however, not being able to take the PE CSETs due to the pandemic was. I am surprised at the short time period to have to finish up a credential program in either PE or English for those that had no choice but to enter these content area programs although their interest and intent were to be authorized to teach Dance and Theatre/Drama.
I have a teacher who is doing just that. Every time I asked about when the new authorization areas would be available, I was told by Commission staff that it was on the list but that there were other things more pressing to be accomplished first, so no timeframe could be given. For this reason, our educator had no choice but to enter a PE credential program so that she could teach Dance at one of our high schools. Now if she doesn't finish up and get her preliminary granted before January 1, 2022. her PE credential will no longer authorize Dance? There is usually a longer "sunset" period when changes like this are made.
Due to COVID our educator was not able to take the PE CSETS, which are already limited due to not being offered continuously, but only during 4 windows per year.
